Group Trips

Many clients first experience Border-free Business by joining us on a group trip. These trips generally take up to six participants to a target country for a week. While each person is responsible for arriving at the starting location, Border-free Business pays for all business expenses during the stay in the country, including all hotel rooms, meals, taxi-fares, domestic flights, fees, local taxes, local business cards, and so on. Prior to traveling, an in-depth analysis is made of your company, and recommendations are made as to which target markets are a good match. We then reach out to our extensive contacts with various Chambers of Commerce, the State Department, and our own advisers on the ground in target countries, to line up potential business partners. In the lead-up to traveling, you are given material to help you familiarize yourself with business culture and etiquette in the destination, and are encouraged to learn the ten or twelve key phrases that will serve you well during your stay.

After making your own way to the target country, you will be greeted at the airport, and escorted to your hotel. We implement strategies to minimize jet-lag so that you can be up and running almost immediately. For the duration of the week, we share our knowledge, and take you to relevant businesses, institutions and facilities. Where there is mutual consent, we introduce you to potential business partners. Often, Trade Commissions or the US State Department will facilitate meetings for us (and often will accompany us to those meetings). Some of what you learn you will be very aware of (instructions on how to exchange business cards, for instance). Other things you will learn almost subconsciously (such as tipping etiquette in Japan, how to negotiate the subway in Paris, or how to negotiate anything in Thailand). Either way, you will likely learn more during the week with us than you would in a year on your own. The cost of US$25,000, when seen in the light of shaving a year off the typical time required to get familiarity and traction in a country, is very cost-effective. Furthermore, the entire fee can be covered by an export-oriented small business loan, as explained on our "Financing" section.

Individual Trips

Some clients want to fast-track their entry into the world of global commerce, and have the resources to engage Border-free Business for personalized and dedicated service. For these clients we offer customized programs that go beyond the scope of what can be achieved during one week as part of a group.
